The England Under-21 international was born on 30 August 1997 in Berwick Hills, Middlesbrough.
At the age of seven, he joined Boro’s Academy from local team Cleveland Juniors. However, on October 1, 2014, he signed his first professional contract with Middlesbrough.
Fry, who was part of England’s 2014 UEFA U17 and 2017 FIFA U20 winning teams, made his debut for Boro on 9 August 2015 at the age of 17. Incidentally, it was the first game of the season and his excellent performance in that game, which was against Preston North End, earned him the “Man of the Match” award. Consequently, he signed a new five year deal with Boro, barely a month after making his senior debut at the club (14 September 2015).
Although Fry featured in a few games for the senior team between February and March, he spent the latter part of the season with the reserves. At the start of the 2016/2017 season, he moved to Rotherham United on loan before returning to Boro in January 2017.
In the 2017/2018 season, he played 13 games for the senior side in a season where he was injured for two months. Nevertheless, he continued to develop, and the 2018/2019 revealed how good a prospect he is as a defender.
